A hermit observing the world from his cave
The so-called “West,” primarily the USA and the EU, has been the dominant power in the modern world over the last centuries. They are the colonizers, exploiting the rest of the world and spreading their hegemony over the developing nations.
There was a time when there were two superpowers—the USA and the USSR. Today, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, there is just one, the USA. But there are many other powers, and with today’s technologies, advances in military and cultural dominance happen very rapidly.
The USA and Europe are closely allied, together with non-European nations such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand. They have a military alliance called NATO, which has 30 countries as members, with a number of others applying to join. All are European nations except for the USA and Canada.
But China is in a bid to become more powerful than the USA, and Russia, coming from the demise of the Soviet Union, is still powerful, having the biggest arsenal of 6,257 nuclear warheads (versus the US’ 5,550). Thus there has emerged a challenge to Western dominance. This is a rival economic bloc known as BRICS. These are the developing countries of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Add to this some other important nations that seem to want to join, and these are Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey and Egypt. There are still others, such as Indonesia and the UAE. Since the war in Ukraine, with Europe and the USA in great instability, these nations have strengthened trade and financial ties, with some intent to decouple from the West.
All this is the birthing of a new world order, with dramatic realignments in political affiliations and ideologies. This will be different from the New World Order that the West is putting together. The West is basically characterized by the advancement of the culture of DEATH, being anti-God, anti-family, anti-life. The US, Canada and many European nations have been sinking into immorality and rejection of their once Judeo-Christian heritage and values. Throughout history, great empires ultimately collapsed due to immorality.
There is still hope for the West. In the USA, things can turn around if the Democratic Party is voted out of power, with a real possibility in the midterms of 2022 and the Presidential election of 2024. In Europe, there are many nations starting to reject the liberalism and totalitarianism within the EU, such as Hungary, Italy, Sweden, France, Turkey, Serbia, Malta, Czech Republic, Slovakia, even Germany.
These are interesting times we are living in. Dangerous, yes. Possibly even hastening the end times.
