It is interesting, and very disturbing, that the Vatican has allowed the godless Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to in effect decide who would become bishops in China (it is part of China’s sinicization of the Catholic Church there), while it does not approve SSPX appointing bishops, which is necessary for its survival.
The Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) was established by Abp Marcel Lefebvre, who could not accept the modernist shift in the Church started with Vatican II. The SSPX has tried very hard to remain faithful to the Church, while standing for what the authentic Church really is, from time immemorial until Vatican II. It is traditional and conservative, not modernist. I believe Abp Lefebvre will ultimately be recognized as a saint.
