Cardinal Jean-Marc Aveline, President of the French Bishops’ Conference, is a leading papabile. But is he even Catholic? In the strict sense, he is not. He is a modernist who overturns Catholic teaching and does not conform to authentic Catholic faith.
* He defines evangelization as dialogue, rather than as proclamation and conversion, which is the basic mission of the Church.
* He rejects Christ’s universal mediation in favor of a naturalist conception of religion. As such, Jesus is not the only way of salvation.
* He looks to the positive role of non-Catholic religions, which he claims lead to the divine.
