THE WORLD AT AN END #273 -- Schism in Church if an orthodox Pope not chosen?

Cardinal Gerhard Muller says the Church risks schism if an orthodox leader is not chosen as Pope by the Conclave. This means one who is not a heretic, of which there are a number among the Cardinal-electors. Among the heresies is looking to the Church as a humanitarian organization doing social work and looking to the favor of the world, rather than a divine institution that proclaims Christ and looks to the scriptures and Tradition (while still mindful of the poor) and looking to the favor of the Lord.
But if an orthodox Pope is chosen, given the deeply-entrenched liberalism and modernism among many hierarchs, it might be the liberals and wokes who split off from the Church. Now that might not be too bad, as it will greatly purify the Church and bring her back to authentic faith. Pope Benedict XVI did look to a smaller but purer Church.
