Is it even possible to elect a heretic as Pope? Unfortunately yes. If the electors are not truly attuned to the Spirit of God and who might themselves be modernists who accept heretical teachings.


But will the Holy Spirit not protect the Church? Yes. And the authentic Church of Jesus will always remain. But God allows man’s free will, even if it means turning against Him. The smoke of Satan has already entered the Church. The evil one can continue to weaken her, and bring many Catholics to perdition. Perhaps there will only be a small flock in the end.


We need to pray hard.
