THE WORLD AT AN END #287 -- Pope Francis deceived the Church when he suppressed the Latin Mass

An internal Vatican report by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) questions the justification of Pope Francis’ suppression of the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) when he issued Traditionis Custodes (TC) in 2021, as he revoked Summorum Pontificum (SP), the 2007 motu proprio by Pope Benedict XVI that liberalized the celebration of the older Roman rite.
Pope Francis' narrative and justification sharply diverge from reality. A majority of bishops throughout the world who responded to his 2020 questionnaire were not in favor of suppression. In fact, these bishops said the older liturgy restored peace within the Church rather than causing division, as Pope Francis had claimed. Pope Francis had cited the bishops’ responses to the survey as his catalyst for TC. In reality, the Vatican body tasked with analyzing the responses had the opposite conclusion.
Other aspects of the report:
* Only a minority of bishops were hostile to SP. Most who implemented SP were satisfied with results.
* The TLM had not caused schism but renewed commitment to the Mass, especially among youth.
Pope Francis deceived the whole Church in order to push his liberal agenda.
